Community Through Music Remote is an online music enrichment program led by singer/songwriter Suzi Shelton. Ms. Suzi will lead the children in 20-30 minute classes incorporating call and response songs, dances, partnering games, and music based on both traditional American folk music, world music and original material. Professional guest musicians that play a variety of instruments including the ukulele, banjo, fiddle, guitar, upright bass and percussion will be featured each week. Lesson 1 features banjo player Jared Engel playing the traditional song “Banjo Pickin’ Girl.”
CTM aims to reinforce inclusion, respect and kindness towards each other, to improve listening skills, and group participation. The program exposes children to American folk and world music and allows them to gain knowledge and appreciation for different musical styles and instruments.
The program is generously funded by The Uncle Shlomo’s Brooklyn Kids Music Fund and Living Traditions at Jalopy Theatre and School of Music.
